We've had seven weeks of hot weather here in the UK, I can't remember the last time we had such a nice summer. All this sunshine has got me in the mood for sewing summer staples. As you’ll no doubt be aware if you’ve been following me on social media, I’ve not had chance to make any cotton dresses or breezy shorts as I’ve been busy getting married.
The last couple of months for me have been non-stop sewing delicate lace and silk. As much as I loved every minute of it, I’m looking forward to getting stuck into something a bit less slippery. Part one of the Handmade Wedding Dress series is up on Youtube now, if you’d like to see the inspiration behind the dress.
Now that I'm not overwhelmed by wedding planning & wedding DIY I'm really looking forward to sewing up some quick wins. I fancy a short sleeved Plantain Tee from Deer and Doe or an Agnes from Tilly and the buttons in something soft and easy to wear like our Art Gallery Fabrics jerseys.
Culottes have been very popular online this year again and I'm absolutely in love with Helen's Closet's Winslow Culottes (I've made 3 pairs and I'm thinking of more already!) I think they'd be excellent in any of our rayons. I'd love a nautical themed pair in this yarn dyed stripe rayon.
I've just ordered a whole load of new cottons and linens for the shop so don't forget to sign up to the news letter if you'd like to hear about them when they're up online.
Are you still sewing for summer? What's your favourite fabric for this kind of weather?
